Conch Shell for Offerings
Conch Shell for Offerings
Imported from the Himalayas, the right-turning white conch shell (Tib. dung khar) is one of the Ashtamangala or Eight Auspicious Symbols sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is regarded as representing purity, and symbolizes the Buddha’s speech.
Added to the 7 offering items on your shrine, the small conch shell represents music (Tib. shabda), the melody of Dharma, and should be kept filled with saffron-scented or perfumed water.
Shells are available in a range of sizes for you to select the best size for your offering bowl. As each shell is unique and formed by nature, the item you receive may not be the exact shell pictured.
