Yeshe Tsogyal war die wichtigste Schülerin und Gefährtin des indischen Meisters Padmasambhava, der im 8. Jahrhundert den Buddhismus in Tibet etablierte.

Die Autobiografien der berühmten Dakini sind Schatz-Texte, auf Tibetisch Terma, die sie zu Lebzeiten verfasste und verbarg. Das vorliegende Terma entdeckte Drime Kunga im 14. Jahrhundert. Er verbarg es zunächst erneut, bis der große Meister Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo es 1848 wiederentdeckte. Nun ist es der westlichen Welt erstmals auf Englisch und Deutsch zugänglich.
